How to use Laws & Regulations
Each step shows the real screen. Hover a numbered marker — or the matching note — to see what every control does.
Open Laws for your country
Click Laws in the top bar. The list opens on the country detected from your location, with filters on the left and a search bar above the results.
- Every result is numbered, and the numbering continues across pages of 100.
- Switch between comfortable and compact rows with the toggle above the list.

Search and filter the list
Type a keyword and pause; the results refresh on their own. Then narrow them with the filters: jurisdiction, institution and document type each open a checklist.
- Tick Central for federal law, or one or more emirates or states. Ticking both keeps only Central.
- Count pills show how many filters are active; Clear all resets them.
- Your country, filters and keyword stay in the page address, so you can save a filtered list in your browser or share it.

Preview, save or share from the list
Hover a result to see its actions. Preview opens a quick read in a dialog; click the title itself to open the full law in a new tab.
- Add to Dashboard copies the law into a folder of your Vault, such as Personal Law Library.
- Share copies a link that opens the law, with any chat you've had about it, for 24 hours. No account needed.

Ask Alaya about the law
The law fills the left of the screen and Alaya sits on the right, ready to answer questions about it. Ask what it requires or who it applies to, in plain language.
- Numbered citations show the passage behind each point; hover one to read it.
- Web search is off until you switch it on with the globe.
- Hover an answer to copy it or download it as a Word file.

Tip: Press Ctrl+K to jump to the message box from anywhere on the page.
Set the scope for your questions
Click Set scope under the chat header. Choose a country, then whether you're working on law or contracts, and narrow law questions to the federal level, states or institutions.
- Leave Working on unselected and Alaya searches both laws and contracts.
- Long lists get a search box; Clear all empties the scope.
On this screen
Save, share or export your work
Open the three-dot menu in the chat header. From here you can keep a copy of the law in your Vault, share it with your conversation, export the chat or start over.
- Your conversation stays with the law: reopen it, or use Law Chat History, to pick up where you left off.
- Reset Chat asks you to confirm, then moves the old messages to View Archive.

Tips for getting it right
Choose the country first
Changing the country clears your keyword and the jurisdiction and institution filters. Document types are kept.
Central or states, not both
Ticking Central together with states keeps only Central. Run two searches when you need to compare.
Type three letters to search a filter
Long filter lists have their own search box, which shows matches once you've typed at least three characters.
Keep a filtered list handy
Country, filters, keyword and page are all kept in the page address. Save it in your browser, or send it to a colleague.
Reset the chat before you share
Share links include your current conversation about the law, and can't be withdrawn. Reset Chat first if it's private.
Fewer rows than results?
The count includes texts that are still being prepared for Alaya. They appear in the list once they're ready.
Statuses you'll see
Work that runs in the background always shows where it stands — here is what each label means.
- Alaya is readingAlaya is working on an answer about this law.
- Resetting chat…Your conversation is being archived. The page reloads when it's done.
- Share link copied to clipboardPaste the link anywhere. It opens the law for 24 hours.
- Share link readyYour browser blocked the clipboard. Use Copy in the message to copy the link.
- Document added to dashboard successfullyA copy of the law is now in the Vault folder you chose.
- Same document already exists in the folderThat folder already holds this law. Choose another folder, or leave it there.
Open the Country filter to see every country available. The list starts on the country detected from your location. If that country isn't covered, the box reads “Select Country” until you choose one.
Downloading from the list is limited to administrators. To keep your own copy, use Add to Dashboard: the law is copied into your Vault, where you can open, download or share it.
In your Vault. From the list you pick a folder, and Personal Law Library is the usual home for laws. From inside a law, the dialog opens on Personal Law Library. The copy counts toward your Vault storage.
A read-only page with the law and your current conversation about it. Anyone with the link can open it without an account for 24 hours. Links can't be withdrawn, so reset private chats before sharing.
Yes. Each law keeps your conversation, so reopening it picks up where you left off, and Law Chat History lists them all. Reset Chat starts over and moves the old messages to View Archive.
No. Alaya cites the passages it relies on so you can check them. Verify the text of the law before you rely on an answer.
