Gerardo Varela

Partner at Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos; joined the firm in 1990 and has been a partner since 1996. He focuses on corporate law—particularly mergers and acquisitions (having been involved in more than 50 transactions across sectors such as electricity, salmon production and retail)—and is an experienced competition/antitrust advisor and trial lawyer; he is President of Sonacol S.A. and has served as Minister of Education under President Sebastián Piñera.
