I was a partner at HFW until 31 March 2021. I have a broad international corporate/commercial practice. I specialises in transactional, corporate and commercial law with particular reference to the energy, insurance, commodities and transport industries. My practice spans a wide range of areas, including anti-money laundering and sanctions regulation (both international and UK); international and national mergers and acquisitions; joint ventures; private equity transactions; capital markets (issues of debt and equity); and complex international restructuring. I advise boards of public and private companies on corporate governance and compliance issues. I have considerable experience of the UK and international anti-money laundering and financial sanctions regimes. In March 2018, I was named as a “Star” practitioner by market research company Acritas. The Star nominations are based on interviews with more than 4,300 senior in-house counsel around the world, who were asked to identify the best lawyers they had worked with in the previous year. Clients praised Nick’s professionalism, knowledge, creative thinking, willingness to help and availability. “He is able to give simple answers that everybody can understand,” said one client.
