Throughout her early career, Rachel served in multiple in-house legal and compliance roles, including chief compliance officer and chief privacy officer, and has provided guidance and training to multinational companies globally. She also served as a foreign service officer with the U.S. Department of State. Rachel Ehlers is a partner in Baker McKenzie's Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, based in the Firm's Dallas and Houston offices. Her practice focuses on technology transactions, evolving technologies including generative artificial intelligence, data privacy, and cybersecurity. She has extensive product counseling experience, and regularly advises clients on the adoption of new technologies, data incidents and breach response, cross-border data transfers, and privacy and cybersecurity issues related to mergers and acquisitions. She also represents clients in developing data privacy and security programs for compliance with CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulations. She previously served in multiple in-house legal and compliance roles, including chief compliance officer and chief privacy officer, and as a foreign service officer with the U.S. Department of State.
