James is a principal in Maples and Calder (Luxembourg) at the Maples Group, where he is head of the Luxembourg Tax group. He advises Fortune 500 companies, private equity, real estate funds and start-ups on many aspects of Luxembourg taxation, including holding activities, cross border financing, IP planning, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring. James also focuses on updating tax structures to robustly comply with BEPS, economic substance and transfer pricing. · Maples Group

James O'Neal is a principal and head of the Luxembourg Tax group at Maples Group (Maples and Calder in Luxembourg). He advises Fortune 500 companies, private equity, real estate funds, and start-ups on Luxembourg taxation, including holding activities, cross-border financing, IP planning, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, BEPS compliance, economic substance, and transfer pricing. He joined the Maples Group in 2018, was previously a principal at AMMC Law, and earlier a Director of the International Tax Team at a Big Four firm in Luxembourg. He began his career in Silicon Valley, California.
