Selman Ansari is a regulatory and public policy lawyer, specialising in competition law and data protection. He relocated from London to the Middle East in 2018. He advises corporates, government departments, state owned enterprises and private equity investors on: public policy, merger control, the full spectrum of competition law issues (including abuse of dominance and distribution/vertical agreements), data protection, cybersecurity (including data localisation issues and on the implementation of global data privacy compliance programmes) and AI regulation. He has particular experience in bringing international solutions to merger control, antitrust, data protection and AI regulatory issues arising in the Middle Eastern context. He has advised on some of the largest and most complex merger control filings in the region, both local and where multiple filings are required across the globe. He regularly represents clients before the competition authorities in the region in respect of competition law enforcement. Having had an active data privacy practice in London, he has a deep understanding of data and cybersecurity regulation and is expert in the emerging AI regulatory landscape across the Middle East.
