Latham & Watkins · Michael (Mickey) Herman is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Copyright, Privacy & Communications Practice. He advises a broad range of clients, including leading companies in the communications, information technology, and media sectors, on an array of litigation, regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters. Mickey counsels clients on various federal and state regulatory and policy issues impacting broadband Internet access, voice-over-IP (VoIP), wireless, and satellite providers, as well as cable operators, television and radio broadcasters, video programmers, and device manufacturers. He also advises sponsors and other clients on complex transactions, helping them to secure approvals from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Committee for the Assessment of Foreign Participation in the United States Telecommunications Services Sector (Team Telecom), and state public utility commissions. In addition, Mickey has experience representing clients in investigations before the FCC and other federal and state governmental agencies, including related to universal service and broadband funding, privacy and consumer protection, and national security issues. Mickey is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association and previously served on the D.C. Bar Foundation’s Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council, where he led several fundraising efforts to promote access to legal services for underserved members of the community. Mickey received his JD from Wake Forest University School of Law, graduating summa cum laude and first in his class. During law school, Mickey served as editor-in-chief of the Wake Forest Law Review. He also interned for Judge Jimmie V. Reyna of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Prior to law school, Mickey attended Wake Forest University, graduating cum laude with a BA in Politics & International Affairs.
