Matthew Leverton

Matthew has wide-ranging litigation and dispute resolution experience. He regularly handles applications for interim relief and trial litigation, and is well versed in alternative dispute resolution, with experience in expert determination, arbitration and mediation. Matthew is routinely instructed on heavyweight, high value commercial disputes of all kinds, and has particular experience and expertise in handling claims arising from fraud. He has a split practice, acting both for corporate clients and for individuals. Corporate disputes Matthew acts for both established, substantial businesses and earlier stage companies, across a variety of sectors, including technology, financial services, retail, hospitality, entertainment and sport. His caseload covers the full range of contractual disputes, civil fraud, economic tort and company law disputes (including shareholder disputes). He also has significant experience in dealing with commercial property disputes, including landlord and tenant disputes, claims in nuisance, and claims for possession. Disputes involving individuals Matthew represents and advises UHNWIs, HNWIs and families. He has significant experience in representing individuals in connection with civil fraud and asset recovery, and in disputes in which individuals may become involved in their capacities as directors, shareholders and investors. He is equally comfortable acting for individuals in their personal, private capacities, handling all manner of contractual claims, negligence claims, art disputes, contentious educational issues, and property disputes (including landlord and tenant disputes, ‘neighbour disputes’ and disputes arising out of property renovation and development).
