Oliver Collett

Oliver is a Partner in the Leeds Asbestos Related Disease team. He has over 15 years’ experience in working with asbestos related disease and occupational illness claims and has a particular interest in Mesothelioma, Asbestos Related Lung Cancer and Silicosis cases. He is also APIL accredited as a Senior Litigator and asbestos and occupational disease specialist. Oliver was a leading member of the team in submitting its bid for the 2020 Yorkshire Legal Awards Litigation and Dispute Resolution award, for which the team have been successfully shortlisted as Finalists. He is particularly noted for his compassion and client care skills representing clients with terminal illnesses. He is an active fundraiser for charities supporting cancer patients, such as Mesothelioma UK, Maggies Leeds, Cancer Support Yorkshire and various hospices throughout the area. Oliver also has provided support to Mesothelioma Support Yorkshire (MESSY), a patient support group run, since its inception over 10 years ago. He has a reputation for his thoroughness in litigation and consistently recovers well in excess of £1m in client damages each year, including vital funds to cover private treatment costs for mesothelioma clients, with circa £1.8m recovered this year with the highest settlement of £350,000 for a mesothelioma case. · Irwin Mitchell
