James Cohen

James is a Partner and Head of our Private Client Department. He specialises in private client work, with particular expertise in advising clients with assets across multiple jurisdictions and navigating complex tax treaties. He describes himself as a “GP of the law,” providing specialist advice while coordinating with other departments to meet clients’ broader needs. His role involves significant project management, ensuring clients receive tailored, responsive support. “Our clients rely on us to resolve their issues, but they also appreciate that we adapt to their preferred way of working while meeting deadlines,” he says. James enjoys the variety of private client work, placing him “at the center of the legal Venn diagram,” working closely with property, corporate, IP, immigration, and litigation teams. He also manages Seddons GSC’s Immigration team. A graduate of Birmingham University (BSc, 2005), James completed his legal training with distinction at the College of Law and qualified in 2009. He joined the firm to specialise in international and private wealth, becoming a Partner in 2015. A qualified Trust and Estates Practitioner (STEP), he has arranged wills and lasting power of attorney for many clients, handling sensitive matters with professionalism and care. · Seddons GSC LLP
