Katy Ames
Katy is an established member of the professional negligence and insurance disputes team. Katy advises on a variety of complex construction-related professional negligence disputes, including claims against architects, contractors, surveyors and engineers. Generally, Katy acts in high-value, multi-party, cases and works closely with insurers, insureds and brokers to secure pragmatic results. Recently, Katy’s work has focused on claims involving a number of large, corporate approved inspectors and, in the wake of the Grenfell Tower Disaster, claims in relation to cladding and façade defects. In addition, Katy also advises insurer clients on policy coverage matters and the terms and application of professional indemnity insurance policies. Katy advises insurers on issues such as: late notification; breaches of policy conditions; the duty to provide insurers with a fair presentation of the risk on inception/renewal; and applicable exclusion clauses within the policy. Katy recently spent 14 months on secondment to an international insurer, where she was based within the London professional indemnity team. · Weightmans LLP
