Paul Debney

Paul qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and has specialised in disease and personal injury claims since then, joining Weightmans as a Partner in 2008. His disease experience includes: asbestos related diseases, asthma, biological exposure cases including Legionnaires disease, chemical poisoning including neuropsychiatric injury, occupational cancers, cumulative back and other repetitive strain type injuries, noise induced hearing loss, vibration related injuries and work related upper limb disorders. Paul has particular expertise in relation to fraudulent claims, speaking regularly on that subject. Paul has been to the Supreme Court (Dryden & Ors v Johnson Matthey PLC [2018] UKSC 18; the case which clarified what constitutes an “injury” in a personal injury claim) and the Court of Appeal several times, including in relation to clarifying procedure in contempt claims (Zurich Insurance Plc v Romaine [2019]EWCA Civ 851). · Weightmans LLP
