Richard heads Thompsons Solicitors' Trade Union Law Group, providing specialist advice on industrial action, recognition, rule book issues, elections, trade union governance, Certification Officer cases, TULRCA compliance and collective employment matters including TUPE. He completed his training at Freshfields Solicitors in 1990, was a legal officer at UNISON in 1992, joined Thompsons in 1998 and has led the Trade Union Law Group since 2008; he has been a member of the executive committee of the Industrial Law Society and the Institute of Employment Rights since 2010 and is a member of the Law Society employment law committee.
