
Henry Bian
Henry provides strategic intellectual property advice for a wide variety of clients, including cannabis clients, in the acquisition, enforcement and exploitation of all forms of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs, trade secrets and plant breeders’ rights. He is also a registered patent agent, and assists his clients in obtaining patents in areas such as synthetic biology, extraction and purification processes, chemical synthesis, consumer packaged goods, and software patents. He is also a co-inventor on a patent family related to the use of the rare cannabinoid cannabichromene (CBC). Henry previously worked as an in-house counsel at Cronos Group Inc., a NASDAQ-listed cannabis company, where he provided strategic advice on advertising issues, IP licensing, evaluating IP risks, protecting technologies and brands in a complex and dynamic regulatory environment. He worked extensively with the research and development team there and has gained extensive technical insights into science of cannabis, including biosynthesis, plant breeding and propagation techniques, chemical synthesis and extraction, product development and formulation (such as vapes and edibles), and device design.
