
Jonathan Bitran
As a Partner in Blakes’ Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment group, Jonathan is known for his expertise in advising clients on competition, antitrust and Investment Canada Act review clearances for their mergers and acquisitions. He has advised on some of the most complex and high-stakes domestic and global mergers across a diverse array of industries, including retail, energy, communications, consumer packaged goods, pharmaceuticals, and building products. Jonathan is also a trusted advisor to those seeking advice regarding compliance with the Competition Act (such as trade practices, advertising, competitor collaborations) and the Investment Canada Act, including national security. Additionally, he acts for clients in investigations and litigation relating to the Competition Act. He recently completed a two-year secondment at the Canadian Competition Bureau with the Competition Bureau Legal Services of the Department of Justice. While there, he litigated major merger cases in the telecommunications sector and waste management industry on behalf of the Commissioner of Competition.
