Michel Deschamps practices banking and commercial law with broad experience in domestic and cross-border loan syndications, secured transactions, receivables financing, international banking transactions and regulation of financial institutions, including consumer protection matters. He has served as the Canadian delegate on secured-transactions law reform projects sponsored by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law, has chaired Québec Bar committees and is an Associate Professor (banking law) at the Université de Montréal; he is also the author of numerous articles and book chapters.
