Woods is a seasoned litigator and arbitrator with 40 years of experience who has acted successfully before all levels of federal and provincial courts in Ontario and Quebec, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has served as chair or member of arbitral panels in numerous commercial and international matters (including ICC proceedings), is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Litigation Counsel of America and the Federation of Defence and Corporate Counsel, and taught Civil Litigation Techniques at McGill University for nearly 30 years.
