
Yvonne Scannell
Yvonne is the acknowledged leading authority on natural resources, environmental and planning law in Ireland, and author of the seminal text Environmental and Land Use Law and co-author of The Habitats Directive in Ireland. She is the author of seven books and numerous articles on Planning and Environmental and Energy. Her work on planning law has been cited in the High Court and the Supreme Court. Yvonne has an in-depth understanding of the operation of public law and its application to complex and environmentally sensitive projects. She has an unrivalled experience of environmental and planning issues faced by large projects and natural resources industries. Yvonne has acute awareness of developments in Environmental Law as member of EU academic expert groups. She has been a director of several State sponsored companies including CIE, Whitegate Oil Refinery, the Irish National Petroleum Corporation and Coillte Teoranta, thereby gaining an overview of the legal issues affecting public projects and the constraints on public authorities and she is on the Board of Boliden Tara Mines. She is noted for her common sense and uncanny ability to solve problems and to provide innovative solutions.
