Jaime Vargas is a Partner at Cuatrecasas who advises national and multinational companies across sectors such as energy, oil & gas, telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and consumer on complex tax matters, including national and international tax planning, M&A, investment and divestment structures, and tax controversy and litigation. He previously led the tax practice of two Big Four firms in Colombia and the Colombian tax practice of a major global law firm, worked as corporate and international tax manager for Mexico's leading multinational bottling group, lectures at Universidad Externado de Colombia, chairs the Academic Commission of the Colombian Institute of Tax Law, and is co-author of the book Double Taxation Agreements in Colombia: theory and practice (Editorial Legis, 2019).
