He read law at Hull University (LLB Hons), joined the firm as a trainee in 1979, was admitted to the Cyprus Bar, became a partner in 1986 and specialises in maritime law, ship finance, banking & finance and corporate and commercial matters; he has been Legal Adviser to the Cyprus Union of Shipowners since 2009 and is President of the Maritime Law Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association.
