Albalira Montúfar

Albalira Montufar is a partner at Morgan & Morgan and heads the immigration practice of the firm. For over 15 years, she has led some of the most important projects in Panama involving foreign personnel. Her expertise legal advising in matters related to immigration and labor law, including work and residence permits, visas and citizenship applications, as well as advising multinational corporations with such processes when establishing headquarters in Panama. Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, Ms. Montufar was a Partner at a consulting regional firm specializing in corporate labor and immigration counsel and related affairs. Who´s Who Legal and Latin Lawyer have recognized Ms. Montufar as a leading immigration lawyer in Panama. Ms. Montufar is a member of the Panama Bar Association and chaired its immigration commission in 2019-2021. Albalira has been a speaker on multiple conferences and forums and participates actively in advising on immigration matters to Panama’s Executive Branch, drafting and reviewing regulations related to immigration. In addition, she has contributed to the Panama chapter of Chambers Corporate Immigration Practice Guide 2023, the first edition of this guide globally. Ms. Montufar holds an LL.B. in Law and Political Sciences, from the Universidad de Panama (J.D. equivalent); Postgraduate Degree in International Trade and a Master in Negotiation, Administration and Execution of Commercial Treaties from the Universidad Latinoamericana de Comercio Exterior in Panama; and an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C.
