Josefine Movin Østergaard photo

Josefine Movin Østergaard

Newly elevated to the partnership, Josefine Movin Østergaard has swiftly distinguished herself as one of the most dynamic and accomplished practitioners of her generation, amply justifying her inclusion among the jurisdiction’s elite. Acting for Danish and international companies alike, she commands the courtroom and arbitral tribunal with equal poise, delivering strategic, commercially attuned advocacy in high-stakes disputes that span the full spectrum of civil, regulatory and cross-border proceedings. Her substantive command extends from complex financial-product litigation to cutting-edge ESG matters, marketing regulation and consumer-protection law, allowing her to offer clients seamless advice at the intersection of market practice, reputational risk and evolving regulatory frameworks. Complementing her dispute-resolution prowess, Josefine is frequently entrusted with sensitive internal and external investigations - ranging from discreet, single-issue inquiries to large-scale, multi-jurisdictional reviews - where she deftly navigates the competing imperatives of stakeholder rights, evidentiary integrity, confidentiality and data-protection compliance. Josefine was Ole Spiermann's right hand in the investigation regarding Danske Bank's Estonian branch, which lasted nine months and was concluded with an investigation report in September 2018. Together with Ole Spiermann, Josefine represented Bech-Bruun in the firm’s dispute with the Danish tax authorities involving the largest claim for professional negligence ever brought in Denmark against a law firm. Together with Ole Spiermann, Josefine represented Bech-Bruun in the firm’s dispute with the Danish tax authorities involving the largest claim for professional negligence ever brought in Denmark against a law firm. Together with Karsten Kristoffersen she defended the Danish fintech bank, Lunar Bank from enforcement of a Norwegian first instance judgment in a first ever case of its kind against a bank under the Lugano Convention. Each year, Josefine co-authors with Karsten Kristoffersen the Denmark chapter in In-Depth: Securities Litigation (published by Lexology).
