Mario is also a visiting professor at KU Leuven and a lecturer at Karel de Grote Hogeschool (Antwerp). Mario focuses on the regional, federal and European "environmental law" (Omgevingsrecht/Droit de l'Environnement), i.e. all law matters relating to the planning and protection of the human living environment, including the strengthening relations between environmental law, urban planning law, nature conservation and environmental impact assessment. Marleen Botman has in-depth knowledge of and experience with European, constitutional and administrative law. She is a specialist in deciphering the effect of European law in the national context, such as assessment of regulations against European directives and regulations, the internal market or state aid law. She is an authority on the European Services Directive 2006/123/EC and the allocation of scarce rights.
