About

Hudgell Solicitors has established itself as one of the most progressive and ambitious law firms in the North of England and is recognised as one of ‘The Times Best 250 law firms’ in the UK. It has established a reputation for 'righting wrongs' – earned through impressive work in civil liberties, at Public Inquiries and Inquests, and in representing clients in clinical negligence and personal injury claims. The firm’s respected brand is characterised by its dedication to client care, fighting for justice and delivering the best possible outcome for every client. About the firm: Established in 1997, Hudgell Solicitors has expanded through strategic growth and acquisitions. It now represents thousands of clients in claims for clinical negligence, personal and criminal injury, civil liberties and serious injury and illness abroad. Clients are represented individually, as well as part of large group actions. Led by executive chairman Neil Hudgell and CEO Rachel Di Clemente, it has continually reacted and anticipated changes in the industry to grow as others have exited the market. The strategic plan of the firm now centres around three main operational hubs in the north, in Hull, Manchester and Newcastle. In respect of Clinical Negligence services, the firm is one of only a small number of firms to have a legal aid franchise for representing families in traumatic cases when a child suffers a neurological injury up to eight weeks from birth. Notable recent instructions include many clients who have suffered alleged harm at Great Ormond Street and Addenbrooke's hospitals, where investigations into hundreds of procedures, and individual surgeons are ongoing. A settlement of up to £23.7m in a birth injury claim against Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust was also secured.. The Civil Liberties department are regularly instructed on inquiries, inquests and claims of national media attention, including the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry and Manchester Arena Inquiry. Lawyers will support core participants at the Nottingham Attacks and Southport Inquiries in 2026, In respect of injury claims, a key instruction is on behalf of over 200 victims of the Manchester Arena terrorist attack. The Personal, Serious and Criminal injury teams advise on injury claims of the most significant values and arising from injuries in all circumstances. The Travel Litigation Team advise on claims involving a wide array of accident and illness abroad claims, including at resorts, on planes, boats and ski accidents. A recent key instruction is to represent over 100 passengers of the P&O Ventura cruise ship following sickness outbreaks. Court of Protection completes our service by offering specialism in Mental Capacity Law and Court of Protection work. We act as a professional deputy, attorney and trustee. We have been managing the affairs of those who do not have the capacity to manage their own affairs through the Court of Protection for over 10 years. ### Staffing Figures - 0 Number of UK fee-earners
