Al Oula Law was founded in 2002 and started as a litigation firm. Gradually, Al Oula Law developed and expanded to become a full-service law firm offering an extensive range of legal services, in dispute resolution and legal consultancy, in diverse practice areas, to name a few: civil, commercial, corporate, finance, banking, oil and gas, intellectual property, real estate, employment, criminal, administrative, constitutional. The firm has special expertise in constitutional law and white-collar defense. Al Oula Law launched its international law department in 2008. The department handles all the firm’s transactions and legal matters involving a foreign party or element. The firm represents domestic and international clients assisting them with their legal needs in Kuwait, the GCC and other foreign jurisdictions. Al Oula Law worked pro-bono on one of the largest human rights cases of the century, ‘the detainees in Guantanamo Bay’. In 2010, the firm started working on the case representing a Kuwaiti citizen, who was one of the detainees held in Guantanamo Bay since 2002. In January 2016 the firm’s client was released and returned to Kuwait after 14 years of imprisonment in Guantanamo. The firm is a contributor to the World Bank publications; OneTrust Data Guidance; World Justice Project Rule of Law Index.
