Partner at Uría Menéndez since 2001 and a chaired professor of commercial law since 1986, Cándido Paz-Ares is an authoritative figure in corporate governance who has served on multiple government commissions and contributed to Spanish corporate governance legislation. He was Director General of the Department of Registries and Notaries (1988–1990) and Dean of the Law Faculty at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1997–2000), and is a permanent member of the commercial law section of the General Codification Commission.
