Sean is Partner in the Real Estate Team. He advises on traditional acquisitions, development, finance, leasing, and re-structuring through to newer areas such student accommodation, data centres, primary care centres and the private rented sector. Sean has experience in acting for foreign and domestic Investors on the sale and acquisition of all types of property and has acted on several large office lettings both on the landlord and tenant side. Sean works closely with our lawyers in our corporate team in relation to property elements of mergers and acquisitions. He has also worked extensively with lawyers in other jurisdictions on the real estate elements arising in international M&A deals and on international property syndication transactions. Shane Hogan is the head of the Tax department and head of Tax Controversy and Dispute Resolution at Matheson. Shane is an internationally recognised leading tax practitioner with extensive experience in transactional as well as non-transactional international tax matters. Described as “world class” and a “trusted partner”, Shane is also a go-to practitioner for clients resolving high-stakes complex tax controversy matters. In recent years Shane has led on many of the most significant contentious tax mandates in the Irish market, including matters before the European courts, the Irish courts and the Tax Appeals Commission as well as on a range of key competent authority and international tax controversy matters. Sharon Daly heads the Commercial Litigation Insurance team which is described by Legal 500 as "second to none" with Sharon being personally commended for her ability to respond creatively to complex issues. Sharon and her team have been involved in some of the most significant commercial litigation before the Irish courts in the last ten years, including defending a major financial institution in a multi-billion, multi-jurisdictional dispute arising from investment in Bernard L. Madoff’s business. Sharon also acted for insurers in the largest property damage dispute to come before the Irish courts in relation to the liability of hydro-electrical dams and flood damage arising therefrom. Sharon and her team advise a wide range of clients on insurance issues including policy wordings, coverage, policy disputes, defence of large complex claims and subrogated recovery actions. Sharon is the Co-Chair of the International Bar Association Insurance Committee for 2018-2020 and has actively sought to use this committee to bring together leaders in the insurance industry to address the challenges in the industry globally.
