Gareth has been the lead lawyer on Cardiff’s Central Square regeneration scheme since 2014. He initially assembled the entire site for client Rightacres, an innovative commercial property developer specialising in occupier-led property solutions for business, which recently won an award for its “Outstanding Contribution to Cardiff”. Gavin is a partner and leads our construction team in Wales, which supports private and public sector clients through every stage of a project's lifecycle, from bid and procurement to contract formation and through to dispute avoidance and resolution. Recognised as a ‘Rising Star’ and described as a 'name to note' in The Legal 500, Gavin specialises in construction dispute avoidance and resolution, and supports the response of construction product manufacturers, contractors, and construction professionals to the new regulatory regime introduced by the Building Safety Act. Acting for household name SME and PLC construction product manufacturers, Tier 1 and regional contractors / sub-contractors, and construction professionals, Gavin draws on his appreciation of the commercial drivers of all parties involved in a construction project to provide the pragmatic and solution-focused advice which his clients value, both downstream and upstream. His excellent technical understanding of construction products and projects enables him to engage with personnel with regards the detail of disputes in a practical way, and has been recognised through his appointment to the London board of the Federation of Master Builders. Gavin works with organisations in the construction and manufacturing sectors to assist with internal knowledge management in relation to the new regulatory regime introduced by the Building Safety Act, to assess the risk profile for each organisation, personnel and any associated organisations, and to develop resources and strategies for management of the associated risk. Gerallt’s achievements are reflected by his inclusion in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame, which highlights the law firm partners who are at the pinnacle of the profession. Gillian is an experienced Senior Associate in the Probate and Estates administration section of the Private Client team. Although Gillian advises on all areas of private client work, she specialises in the effective administration of high-value estates, probate, complex trusts and matters and vulnerable beneficiary trusts. Gillian acts for and advises lay executors and trustees, as well as dealing with estates where Geldards are appointed as executors, or act as Trustee via the Geldards Trust Corporation. Gillian deals with numerous high-value trusts for vulnerable beneficiaries and works closely with the vulnerable person and those who support them. She puts in place investment strategies in conjunction with independent financial advice, to ensure that such benefit may be provided for the vulnerable person. Gillian works closely with executors, trustees, beneficiaries and family members providing empathetic and pragmatic advice and support to her many clients.

Graham Miles

Graham is a Partner in the Professional Regulatory team based in the Cardiff Office. Graham specialises in regulatory law, predominantly in the area of fitness to practise. He also has considerable experience of advising regulatory bodies on issues of medical law, public law and human rights. He has experience of over 25 years acting for regulatory bodies in investigating and presenting fitness to cases involving nurses, midwives, pharmacists social care workers, solicitors and teachers. In the field of social care, on behalf of Social Care Wales (SCW), he presents cases involving social workers and other categories of social care workers before Interim Orders Panels and Fitness to Practise Panels. Graham also drafted SCW’s rules, including those relating to the conduct of investigations, interim orders, fitness to practise hearings and registration appeals. Graham also sits as Legal Adviser to Fitness to Practise Panels on behalf of the Teaching Regulation Agency in England and the Education Workforce Council (EWC) in Wales. He has advised both organisations in the drafting of procedural rules. On behalf of the EWC, he also drafted rule rules relating to registration and Indicative Sanctions Guidance. In the wider regulatory field, Graham has advised the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) since 1996. In that capacity he has continually provided advice on issues of medical and public law arising from the regulation of fertility treatment and research, including: acting as Legal Adviser to Statutory Approvals Committees relating to applications for testing of embryos for genetic and other conditions; defending judicial review challenges in a number of high profile cases, including successful defence in the Court of Appeal and House of Lords in R v Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, ex parte Josephine Quintavalle (on behalf of Comment of Reproductive Ethics) [2003] UKHL 13; drafting general and special directions for import and export of gametes and embryos and advising in relation to individual applications to ensure compliance with rights arising in EU law and under the Human Rights Act. advising in relation to numerous cases involving consent to storage or treatment issues and drafting statutory consent forms. Graham also advised the Human Tissue Authority in relation to a range of regulatory matters, including: drafting the HTA’s first guide to licensing; advising on the procedures for granting, varying and revoking licences; advising in relation to regulatory investigations. He also defends applications for Judicial Review on behalf of a professional regulatory bodies. Graham has acted for Social Care Wales (the regulatory body for social care workers in Wales, and its predecessor body since its establishment under the Care Standards Act 2000). He acts as Legal Adviser in fitness to practise cases on behalf of the Teaching Regulation Agency in England and on behalf of the Education Workforce Council in Wales. Gwen is head of environmental claims and one of the UK’s leading environmental lawyers. She has 11 years’ experience specialising in group actions on behalf of communities affected by various forms of environmental pollution. Gwen has successfully concluded a number of large environmental group actions in locations throughout the UK. She has represented many thousands of individuals securing compensation, and more importantly to the claimants, an end to the nuisance. As well as environmental actions, Gwen has been involved in other major group action cases. These include the claim by injured passengers following the Gerona air crash and a multi-million pound claim by former miners for professional negligence against their former solicitors over alleged mishandling of injury claims.
